William Paul Garnett 77 a life long resident of South Amboy, NJ, affectionately known as Wild Will by his friends. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 8, 2026 at Old Bridge Hospital.

Bill was predeceased by his father, William Garnett, mother Jeanne Mundy, stepfather Kenneth Mundy, brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Aneca Garnett and granddaughter Megan Elizabeth Garnett. 

Survived by his wife Linda of 52 years, daughter Kelly Anne Trzeciak and her husband Thomas, son William Garnett and his partner Melanie Bryant, grandchildren Emily Trzeciak and her fiancé Stephen Samra, Erin Trzeciak, Maura Garnett, Will Garnett, brother-in-law and sister-in-law George and Patricia Francy and nephew Brendan Francy. Bill attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Hoffmann High School. He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army serving in Vietnam. Bill was a member of Luke A. Lovely American Legion Post 62 where he served as finance officer for 42 years. He received an award for this service in November of 2024. He had the honor of being chosen as Grand Marshall of the 2012 Memorial Day parade in South Amboy. Bill worked for the City of South Amboy for 32 years as a water meter reader, Animal Control Officer and Code Enforcement Officer. 

Bill loved his grandchildren with all of his heart and enjoyed watching their sporting events and other activities of interest to them. Bill also loved coaching and coached his children’s softball and baseball teams, as well as coaching Girls Varsity Softball for St.Mary’s Regional High School. Always a nature lover, he enjoyed swimming in the Catskill Creek with his children and grandchildren and spotting deer on walks at Cheesequake Park. Bill and Linda loved to travel, especially to Key West. He was a passionate Notre Dame fan and visited the campus and attended many games. Bill was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Star Of The Sea and served as a Democratic Committee member for many years.

 Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family at the Kurzawa Funeral Home 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879 on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 3pm to 7pm and on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 9am to 10am. A 10:30am funeral mass  will be offered at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, South Amboy, NJ. Burial will take place at Christ Church Cemetery, Sayreville, NJ
