Wieslawa Koscielny, 88, of Old Bridge, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2026. She will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.

Born on April 4, 1937, in Czeladź, in the Silesian Voivodeship of Poland, Wieslawa was the daughter of the late Stefan and Eugenia Szatan. She was the eldest of her siblings and was known affectionately to all as “Vickie,” she genuinely loved people and expressed that love freely—most often through her trademark hugs.

Vickie earned a master’s degree in chemistry from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. She immigrated to the United States in the 1960s and went on to build a long professional career as a chemist. She worked for several companies, spending the majority of her career at Merck & Co.,

Above all, Vickie was known for her kindness, generosity, and deep devotion to her family. She found joy in gardening, reading, and traveling, and she will be remembered for her warmth, gentle nature, and the genuine care she showed to everyone around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Stefania Zarzecka, and her brother Tadeusz Szatan. She is survived by her youngest sister Irena Szwarc and brother-in-law Grzegorz Szwarc, their children and respective families in Poland, as well as her nieces and nephew in the United States. She also leaves behind eight great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she cherished dearly.

Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Vickie’s name.
