Thomas J. McCarthy

Thomas Joseph McCarthy, age 88, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026. Born in Jersey City, NJ on July 26, 1938, Thomas lived a life marked by hard work, service, and devotion to his family.

Thomas proudly served in the United States Army as a rifleman from 1961 to 1964. Following his military service, he worked as a union boilermaker, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gertrude McCarthy.

He is survived by his children: Tommy McCarthy and his wife Danielle, Matthew McCarthy and his wife Jenifer, and Mark McCarthy and his wife Eryca; and daughter Michele Livingston and her husband Jon.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Matty, Robert, John, Emily, Ryan, Casey, Mason, and Charlie; and his great-grandchildren, Lucy and Lilly.

Thomas will be remembered for his strength, his service, and the love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family at the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879 on Friday, July 31, 2026 4pm to 7pm with a prayer service at 6:30pm.
