It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas G. Della Fave. Thomas passed away on February 4, 2024, age 92, after a brief illness.
Tom was born in Hoboken, NJ. He was drafted into the Army in 1952 and spent his 2-year tour at Fort Dix. After his service, he opened Del-Ray’s New Colony Tavern and Restaurant on Willow Avenue in Hoboken with his best friend and brother-in-law, Raymond Elend (deceased). In 1960, he married Patsy Ruth and within the next year Gabriel was born. At this time, Tom decided to change careers to better provide for his growing family. He became an electrical draftsman for Federal Pacific Electric. His daughter Gemma was born a year later. The family then moved to Jersey City. Tom’s career was successful, he became an electrical engineer. In 1983, Tom and Patsy Ruth divorced. Federal Pacific Electric moved its offices to Dallas, TX. Tom decided to make the move to Dallas at that time and settled down there. He met and married Betty Neustifter. In 2020, his daughter moved him back to New Jersey because of his failing health.

Thomas was predeceased by his parents Michael and Martha Della Fave, his sisters Rose and Rachel, and brothers Joseph, Michael and John, his first wife and mother of his children Patsy Ruth and second wife Betty Neustifter.
Thomas is survived by his son Gabriel, daughter Gemma Grossman and son-in-law Marc Grossman.
Friends are invited to the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879 on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm. A Catholic prayer service will be offered on Thursday evening at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Thomas will be laid to rest on Friday, February 9, 2024 at William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
