Roger L. Johnson
May 10, 1941 — April 12, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Roger L. Johnson 83 of South Amboy passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12,2025 with his loving wife of 63 years and family by his side.
Roger is predeceased by his son Roger Johnson Jr., his parents Jasper and Hazel Johnson, and a nephew Frederick Kreiss.
Surviving are his wife Marlene Jacobsen Johnson, a sister Barbara Kreiss and nieces Cindy Schaffer and her husband Ken, Susan Jablonski and her husband Jim, a great niece Lindsay Tidd and her husband Brian and a niece-in-law Marilyn Kreiss. A sister-in-law Elsie Marie Mroczkowski and her husband Edwin.
Roger was an avid musician. In his early years he formed the HubCaps and played at school dances, then he and his wife Marlene created the Third Down and played in various night clubs for 20 years. Prior to his retirement Roger taught music at Sacred Heart School.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879 from 4 pm to 7 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Cremation will be private on Thursday. A burial of cremated remains will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a memorial gift to St. Jude in Roger’s name is appreciated.
