Robert John Smith, IV of South Amboy, NJ passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the age of 69.
Robert was born on July 31, 1951 and grew up in Sayreville, he graduated from Sayreville High School and Monmouth College. After college, Robert joined the NJ State Police Department as a member of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement Bureau. He then transferred to the South Amboy Police Department as an officer where he retired after 20 years of service. Robert was a dedicated member of Christ Episcopal Church in South Amboy where he served many years on the vestry. He was an avid hunter, Mets fan, a dedicated Little League coach and loving family man.
Robert is predeceased by his parents, Robert John Smith III and June Nelson Smith and wife Kathryn Bouchard Smith whom he was married to for over 40 years.
He is survived by his loving children Christopher Smith and his wife Heather Frisbie, Suzanne Huff and husband Adam; his dear sister June Smith Ernst and brother Raymond Dreyfuss and his wife Kathleen; sister- in- laws Karen Krzyzkowski and Arlene Bouchard; brother-in-law Paul Bouchard; grandchildren Amelia, Adelyn and Abigail Smith; countless nieces and nephews and beloved friends.
Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at the Kurzawa Funeral Home 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879. A funeral mass will be offered at 10 am on Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church, South Amboy. He will be laid to rest beside his wife of 40 years at Christ Episcopal Cemetery, Sayreville.
