Richard Frances Medvar, 90, of South Amboy, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Perth Amboy, Richard was a lifelong area resident. He served in the US Marine Corp where he proudly defended our country during both the Korean War and World War II. Richard was a Boiler Operator for Cheesebourgh Ponds for 47 years. He was a true outdoorsman. Richard was an advid hunter. He enjoyed camping trips, canoeing down the Delaware River and spending time in his garden. He was a member of the American Legion Post 62.
Predeceased by his parents, Frances Medvar and Harriet Richards, his wife, Eleanor Medvar, and three sisters. Richard is survived by his brother, Donlad Medvar, a sister, Dorothy Hollenbeck, his loving children, Joyce Medvar and her husband James Abbatiello, and Donna Unkel and her husband Scott. Three grandsons, Edward Medvar, Jonathan Unkel, and Dlyan Unkel, and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Richard Medvar are under the direction of Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 4th at 10am at the Kurzawa Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River NJ. Visitation will take place Sunday, December 3rd from 2-5 pm.
