Rafael Reyes, 99, of Manalapan went into eternal rest on Thursday, December 14, 2023 on his 71st wedding anniversary peacefully at his daughter’s home.
Rafael was born March 24, 1924 in his hometown of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He was the son of the late Gregorio Reyes & Juana Pujals. Rafael married the love of his life Ana Reyes on December 14th 1952. Their union created a family of 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Rafael is survived by his 2 daughters Ada Cortes and husband Rigoberto, Juana Aviles and husband Manuel, 5 grandchildren Rafael Cortes and wife Kelly, Maria Yanez and husband Erik, DeAnna Torres and husband Joshua, Vanessa Aviles and Cristina Martins and husband Bryan, 4 great grandchildren Ariana, Joaquin, Anastasia & Desmond. His sisters Marina Rivera & Juana Gonzales of Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
He is predeceased by his wife Ana Reyes, sisters Amelia Reyes, Elisa Rosado, Bienvenida Machado, brothers Armando Reyes, Gregorio Reyes, niece Gloria Machado, nephews Manuel Gonzales, Carlos Reyes, Rafael Reyes, & Gabriel Reyes.
Those wishing to pay their respects may come to The Kurzawa Funeral Home at 338 Main St in South Amboy, NJ 08879 on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm and on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 10:45am to 11:45am. Burial will follow at Ernst Memorial Cemetery, Parlin section of Sayreville, NJ.
