Nancy A. Apito, 70, (Nee: Sakalos) a lifelong resident of Sayreville, NJ, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Nancy was predeceased by her beloved parents, Stephen and Helen Sakalos. She attended Sayreville War Memorial High School and dedicated 30 years of service as a paraprofessional for the Sayreville Board of Education. Known for her kind heart and nurturing spirit, Nancy was an avid gardener and animal lover who also found great joy in music, singing, and caring for children.
She is survived by her loving children: Peter Apito and his partner Michael Amerman of Lopatcong; Diane Szalecki and her husband Michael of Manalapan; and David Apito and his wife Melissa of South River. She is also survived by her dear sister Alice Sakalos of Sayreville and brother Stephen Sakalos and his wife Jane of Parlin. Nancy was a cherished grandmother to Logan, Luke, and Liam, who brought immense joy to her life.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy, NJ, followed by interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to Husky House, a cause close to her heart.
