Mary Tejada

Mary Tejada 88 of Old Bridge, NJ moved to her heavenly home on Sunday night, December 8, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Cali, Colombia on August 5th 1936, to the late Victoria Tejada. She was an operating room nurse in Colombia for 30 years. Mary was an active member of her church community and volunteer in Cali and in Elizabeth, NJ. She was the most dedicated mother to her kids and the most amazing grandmother to her 5 grandkids. She helped raise them all. She was there for them individually in the most special way. Mary loved spending time with her loved ones and friends. She loved music and dancing so much and enjoyed the simple things in life. She was a lifelong friend.
She is predeceased by her mom Victoria and her brothers Norman and Saulo.
Mary is survived by her children Elsy Varela and Alvaro Varela and his wife Flor. Cherished grandmother to David Caicedo and his wife Maria, Carlos Varela, and his wife Andrea, Bryan Caicedo, his wife Toni, Alejandro Varela, and Kelly Caicedo; great grandkids Victoria, Adrianna, Emilia, Sloan, Leo, and Santiago. Many loving family and friends.
Mary was a godly woman of prayer who loved the Lord and her family. Mary loved the Bible and Jesus with all her heart. She set an example for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that will encourage them all their lives.
Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm at the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879 with a prayer service at 7pm at the funeral home.
