It is with very heavy hearts the family of Mary Noble announce that she passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2022, with her loving family by her side.
Mary was born on October 19, 1937 in South Amboy where she lived her entire life. She had a long list of talents that she shared with many family and friends. She taught herself to sew, knit and crochet and whipped up many quilts, afghans, Easter outfits, Holy Communion dresses, prom dresses, leisure suits, curtains and the most amazing Halloween costumes, just to name a few. Mary also taught herself to cut hair (and practiced on her kids!) before getting her beautician’s license to cut and color hair for many family and friends. She was a painter and gardener with a green thumb and had a beautiful garden full of wild flowers. Mary was an exceptional baker and was always quick to bake anyone’s favorite, including her exceptional pies….. a recipe she shared with us all!
Mary attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and Saint Mary’s High School in South Amboy. She went on to graduate from the Mandl School for Medical Assistants in Newark. She became a lab technician before she married her beloved husband of 61 years, Tom Noble, retired Detective Sergeant of the South Amboy Police Force. Together they had four children. Early on she stayed home to take care of her children before she went back to working in a lab in Metuchen. She had a thirst for medical knowledge and was our “go to” for information since she read the Merck Manual cover to cover. She was a dedicated Mom attending basketball and baseball games, cheerleading tournaments and dance recitals, all the while sitting on the edge of her seat - a nervous wreck - hoping no kid would get injured. Mary will be deeply missed by all, especially for her dry sense of humor and unforgettable one liners.
Family was truly the center of Mary’s life. We are grateful for her endless love and caring. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended family.
She is predeceased by her mother Sally Jaskowiak Halmi, her father Joseph Halmi and her brother Joseph Halmi (survived by Helen).
Mary is survived by her devoted husband Tom, loving children Mary Repice, and husband Joseph, Ann Noble, Thomas Noble, Jennifer Kilcooley, and husband Patrick. She was the dear sister to Irene Kolodziej (late Edwin). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Joey, Amy and Jaclyn Repice; Tommy, Ashley and Rachel Noble; and Patrick, Brenna and Rilynn Kilcooley as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Mary loved her grand-dogs Bronson, Luna and her special pal Rosie that was right by her side to the very end.
Mary’s life will be celebrated with a private funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Val Skinner Foundation, which Mary, a two-time survivor of breast cancer, volunteered for along with many family members.
