With deep sorrow and a heavy heart, we announce the unexpected passing of Mary Patrica Lusch of South Amboy, formerly of South Brunswick, NJ on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. During her final moments, she passed away with her son Thomas by her side. The days leading to her passing she celebrated her 90th birthday with her family.

Pat was born in Newark, New Jersey the daughter of Joseph and Charlotte Featherman. At 23 she had gone on a double date with her friend, where she had met the love of her life Albert, Sr., they later were married on April 30, 1960 and shortly thereafter moved to Edison, NJ where they raised three children. She had worked as a gym teacher at St. Matthew’s School and founded the Edison "Angels" girls softball league out of Camp Kilmer Army Base; she was a huge advocate for women's sports. After all three kids were grown, Pat and Al had moved to the Dayton section of South Brunswick Township where they raised their granddaughter Juliann. Pat spent time at home reading her books and watching her favorite shows Andy Griffith, The Wall and Jeopardy. Pat had a tremendous love for her family, she was a strong willed person with a big heart.

She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Charlotte, her husband Albert Lusch Sr., son Albert Lusch Jr., her brothers Paul, Robert and George.

Pat is survived by her loving son Thomas Lusch, and his wife Eileen, daughter Elizabeth Velazquez, grandchildren Scott, Christina, Amy, Dana and Juliann, six beautiful great grandchildren, extended family Erin, Ryan, Jax and more that called her Nan. Also survived by many loving cousins and many dear friends.

Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family at the Kurzawa Funeral Home 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879 on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 9am to 11am, a prayer service will be at 11am followed by burial that will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, 840 Cranbury-South River Road, Jamesburg, NJ 08831.
