Lillian Gray, 97 of Plainfield entered into eternal rest with the lord on Thursday, April 16, 2020.

Lillian was born the daughter of late John Henry Bass and Leeada Bass in Bainbridge, Georgia.

While Lillian raised her family in Plainfield, she brought growth to her community by founding the Seventh-Day Adventist Church on West Fourth Street in Plainfield. With only a sixth-grade education, Lillian founded a successful cleaning business, named Sparkle Cleaning Service. Through hard work, she was able to move out of the projects into a home.

Lillian was predeceased by husband Charles Gray, Sr., her five children: Jeanette Woodard, Linda Woodard, Ulysses Woodard, Irving Woodard, and Jeffrey Murphy. Also she is predeceased by her first husband Ulysses Woodard.

She is survived by her loving children: Charles Gray Jr., and his wife Joy of Hillsborough, Howard Gray of Vauxhall and Helene Gray of Aurora, Illinois. Also loved by Linda, Chris and Cornell Woodard. Survived by one son-in-law Michael Murphy. Lillian was the adored grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother to many.

Lillian lived every day of her life with determination, resilience, and faith. She was
deeply loved by all who met her divine spirit. Although she will be missed, she leaves a
family legacy and a mark within the community she so graciously served.

Memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
