Lester B. Buickerood, 100, of South Amboy, N.J. Entered into eternal life on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at home with family by his side.

He was born in Woodbridge and has lived in South Amboy for the last 75 years. Lester proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II with 906th Field Artillery Battalion. Lester would drive through the night with no lights to haul supplies to the troops. He also performed first echelon repairs on vehicles while serving in the Hawaiian Islands, Philippines and Japan. He received the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. After serving overseas he returned to NJ, still serving his country for two more years working for the army in many trades. Lester was an avid bowler and fisherman. He was employed by National Lead for many years.

Lester is predeceased by his parents George and Edna Buickerood, brothers George, Walter, John, Harold and sisters Edna and Ethel. He was also predeceased by his wife, Esther, who passed in 2012.

He is survived by a daughter Donna Volosyn of South Amboy, his sons Karl Buickerood and wife Patti of Metuchen and Brian Buickerood of South Amboy, Grandchildren Jennifer Lee Labruzza, Salvatore Andrew Esposito, Sara Couillard and Laura Buickerood, 3 great grand sons and 1 great granddaughter.

Private services will be held at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick, N.J.
