John "Ronnie" Lukie, 82 of the Melrose section of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Born in South Amboy, he was a lifelong resident of the Borough of Sayreville. He retired in 1987 from Carborundom in Keasbey, where he worked as a plumber-pipe-fitter for many years. Ronnie was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran serving in Japan, Korea, and Thailand. He was an exempt fireman and member of Melrose Hose Company #1. In his youth he enjoyed hunting, crabbing, and working on anything with an engine. Ronnie was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart R. C. Church in South Amboy.
He is predeceased by his parents Charles and Sally Yanas Lukie, and his brother Charles (Buddy) Lukie.
Surviving are his loving wife Cora Wilson Lukie, married for 5 days short of 58 years, his son and daughter-in-law John and Debra Lukie, his grandchildren Abby and Will Lukie, his sister Theresa Milligan, and his brother Joseph Lukie as well as many brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Friends are invited to pay their respects at the Kurzawa Funeral Home 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879 on Monday, January 19, 2026 from 2pm to 4pm, from 6pm to 8pm, and on Tuesday morning, January 20, 2026 from 8:30am to 9:30am, followed by a 10am funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church, 531 Washington Avenue, South Amboy, NJ 08879. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Johnson Lane, Parlin, NJ.
