Frederick A. Petersen, 83 was called home peacefully from the comfort of his home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 18, 2026. He was born in Bayonne, on May 13, 1943, to Agnes and Frederick Petersen and was a long-time resident of Colonia, NJ.

Fred retired with 31 years of service at IBM as a Large Systems Customer Engineer(C.E) and 10 years of service at the US Post Office as a Field Technician maintaining mail sorting machines. He was also an excellent auto mechanic, and worked on cars on the side.

Having no shortage of hobbies throughout his life, Fred enjoyed dancing with the love of his life, handball, motor crossing, judo, karate, boating, fishing, target shooting, and most of all motorcycle/automotive restoration and hot-rodding. He used each of these hobbies as a means to spend time, connect, and share wisdom with those he dearly loved.

He devoted many years to the Lord’s work at the Colonia Chapel in Clark, New Jersey ministering and shepherding the local saints and at Mountain View bible camp in Danville, Pennsylvania working with younger children to bring them to Christ.

Fred was known lovingly as “Pop” to his children and grandchildren who all loved spending time with him, sharing in his hobbies, and hearing him tell the many stories he had to share from his long life.

Fred was an excellent husband who would do anything for his beloved wife. After 61 years of marriage, their love remained as strong as ever. Recently, he remarked to one of his grandchildren, “61 years isn’t enough with that woman” and their devotion to one another remained evident to the end as she lovingly and selflessly cared for him until his final moments.

Fred was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and Fred Petersen and his brother Gary. He leaves behind his beloved bride of 61 years, Patricia Petersen and three sons, Rick Petersen (Teresa), Mike Petersen (Sandy) and Matt Petersen (Nicole); his seven grandchildren Christa Brown (Andre), Keith Petersen, Michael Petersen, Brooke Petersen, Matthew Petersen, Dylan Petersen, Lexie Petersen and his two sisters Linda and Patty.

He will be dearly missed by the family which he so tenderly loved.
