Elizabeth "Betty" Karns age 92, formerly of South Amboy, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 12, 2024 an her home in Lewes, Delaware.
Born on April 27, 1932, in South Amboy, NJ, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Fisler.
Betty graduated from St. Mary’s High School in South Amboy and dedicated her life to being a loving homemaker, nurturing her family with kindness and devotion. Her warm spirit and unwavering support will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Betty enjoyed various hobbies, including bowling, water aerobics, and playing Bunco with her friends. Her zest for life and laughter brought joy to many, creating cherished memories for those around her. Betty’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her gentle nature and loving spirit will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Joseph L. O'Brien, Stan Krzyzkowski, and Fred Karns, her daughter, Maureen O’Brien Obit, and her sisters, Marie Durnye, and Eleanor Nemeth. Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathleen O’Brien Hawley (Chris) of Lewes, DE; her grandchildren: Allyson Knox (Dennis) of Hillsborough, NJ, Jeffrey Hawley (Jen) of Honolulu, HI; her great grandchildren: Liam Knox, Amelia Knox of Hillsborough, NJ, Austin Hawley, and Aiden Hawley of Honolulu, HI; her sister, Catherine Wojtaszek of South Amboy, NJ; and her nieces and nephews.
Cremation was private and she will be laid to rest at Christ Church Cemetery on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11:00 am.
