Elizabeth A. Finnegan (Nee: Oprisky) 81, of Sayreville, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving children at Old Bridge Medical Center.
Born on June 16, 1943, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Elizabeth was the daughter of Edward and Sophie Oprisky. She was raised in Bayonne, NJ, where she graduated from Bayonne High School. Elizabeth went on to work as an Administrative Assistant in the office of the Executive Director at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Later in life, Elizabeth moved to Sayreville, where she devoted herself to raising her three children. Elizabeth was an avid fan of trips to Atlantic City, where she enjoyed playing the slot machines, as well as shopping on QVC and listening to oldies music. Above all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas J. Finnegan, Jr. with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving children, James Finnegan and his wife Janette, Debra Probst and her husband Edward and Marianne Regan and her husband Brian. She was the cherished grandmother to Ryan Probst, Thomas Regan, Mary Regan, and Kate Probst.
Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 9am to 11am and there will be a prayer service starting at 11am. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin, NJ, where she will be eternally laid to rest beside her husband in her family plot also with her parents.
Elizabeth's kindness, love, and devotion to her family will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
