It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Edwin J Orszulski, 98 of South Amboy, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, our beloved uncle, retired Police Officer and WWII Veteran.
Uncle Johnny, as our family called him, delighted his nieces and nephews, and always had a soft spot in his heart for people in need, in part due to his strong Faith in God.
The youngest of seven children, Edwin spent his entire life in South Amboy, except for when he served in the US Army as part of the expeditionary force that secured and occupied Japan during WWII. After the war, he became an officer in the South Amboy Police Department where he was known as “Slick the Cop”. Edwin was a lifelong member and communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in South Amboy.
Edwin was predeceased by his beloved wife Terrie, and he is survived by his sister, Martha Orlowski. Although he had no children of his own, he is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, whom he delighted with humorous back n’ forth banter around his kitchen table during the Christmas Holidays.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Edwin on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879. A 10 am Funeral Mass will be held the following day on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church, Washington Road, South Amboy, NJ.
We hope that our uncle will be remembered for his long life, his devotion to his family, his strong Faith in God, and his service to the South Amboy Community. He will live on in the hearts of those whom he touched.
In remembrance of Edwin’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy, NJ.
