Edward J. Szaro
July 24, 1955 — October 15, 2022
Edward J. Szaro , "Big Ed" of South Amboy passed away peacefully on October 15, 2022, at the age of 67. Born and raised in South Amboy, he graduated from H. G. Hoffman High School in South Amboy in 1973.
He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Eleanor (nee Reszkowski) Szaro.
Edward is survived by his daughter Christina DeMarco of South Brunswick, NJ, and by his siblings and their spouses – Joseph and Mary Szaro of South Amboy, NJ, Thomas and Valerie Szaro of East Brunswick, NJ, Nancy and Joseph Agolio of Washington Township, NJ, Linda and Don Adam of North Carolina, and his many nephews and nieces.
Ed enjoyed life and had many friends over the years. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and riding his Harley. He spent the last years of his life as a resident at the Venetian Care & Rehabilitation Center in South Amboy, where he proudly served as President of the Resident Council. He often looked after and assisted other residents and tried to improve resident care conditions as much as possible. The family would like to thank the staff for their kindness and the care Ed received during his extended time at the Venetian.
Friends are invited to pay their respects at the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ, from 8:30-9:30 AM on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the organization Friends of South Amboy, 252 1st Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879, in his name, would be greatly appreciated.
