Debbie Mannell, 63 of Parlin passed away peacefully Monday, March 11, 2024.

She was born in South Amboy, the daughter of John and Claire, but was raised in Parlin where she spent most of her life. Debra graduated from Sayreville War Memorial High School in 1979. After highschool she attended The College of New Jersey, Trenton, earning a teaching degree in health and physical education.

Debbie was an avid sports lover, especially loved playing softball and tennis before being diagnosed with MS in 1988. Although being diagnosed Debra remained strong throughout the years, She had a courage that most would never imagine. She always pushed herself to continue living and enjoying aspects of life. As the years went on after diagnosis she proved to many that it is possible and determined to still live a normal life. Her time was filled with spending time with friends, shopping, vacationing down at the shore and taking trips into New York City to catch an on Broadway show.

Debra had an affinity for sports and loved watching sports year round. She was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and witnessed them win 3 Super Bowls.

Debbie is predeceased by her loving parents John and Claire (Sawyer) Mannell, her sister Patricia Hrankowski and her husband Theodore.

She is survived by her niece Sharon Downs and her husband David, her niece Barbara Hrankowski, and her great niece Alexandria Gustimbelli and her fiance Jeremy Dionne. Debbie also leaves behind her life long friend Barbara (Bonnie) Burrows, and her extended family, her long time physical therapist Ben Dy, her caretaker and friend Lidia Sonco.

Friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879, from 3 pm to 6 pm; and on Saturday morning, March 16, 2024 from 9 am. Her life will be honored with a 10 am Catholic Prayer Service at the funeral home Saturday morning. She will be laid to rest with her parents at New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin, NJ after the service.
