Clarice "Sis" C. Mccabe

Clarice “Sis” C. (McHugh) McCabe, 88, of South Amboy, NJ, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Centra State Medical Center.
She was born on August 6, 1934, to Mary (Haley) and Charles McHugh, in Presque Isle, ME and was raised on a working potato farm. In 1956, she graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. In 1957, she married James P. McCabe, and moved to South Amboy, where she became a Maternity Nurse at South Amboy Hospital. Clarice could be relied on for her candid opinion and quick-wit. She enjoyed good laughs, good meals, and good times with her loved ones and had a passion for animals, often reminiscing about her childhood on the farm.
She was predeceased by her husband, James; her parents, Mary and Charles; her brothers, Arden, John, and Clarence McHugh; and her sisters, Barbara Manchester and Alice Condon.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Judith Hathcock and her husband Herschel; Patricia Mulligan and her husband, Daniel Roibal; Barbara McCabe and her husband, Richard Stewart; and James P. McCabe Jr. and his wife, Joanna McCabe. She leaves behind nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date celebrating her life. The family is requesting donations to be made to the ASPCA https://secure.aspca.org/donate/ps-gn-p1?linked=1 or any local Animal Shelters in memory of Clarice "Sis" McCabe.
