Clara Mary Hansel, née Baran, 80, of South Amboy passed quietly on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Village Point Rehabilitation in Monroe, NJ surrounded by her children.
Clara was born and raised in South Amboy, NJ and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. She held several diverse jobs over the years and later devoted most of her time as a stay at home mother in the Melrose section of Sayreville, NJ.
She was an avid animal lover and would spend hours feeding and observing the local wildlife. Clara had a passion for board and card games, loved to listen to country music as well as attending various functions in support of her family. She also enjoyed weekend trips to Lancaster, PA, thrift shopping, reading books and watching shows and movies with a mystery theme.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mary Baran; her sisters, Mary and Eleanor; her husband Russell Hansel, and her son Karl. She is survived by her brothers Joseph and Robert Baran; sister Francis Piechocinski; Clara’s son Russell Hansel and his wife Beth and their children Kate, Megan and Jonathan; son Darryl and his wife Bertha Ching and their daughter Angelina; her daughter Carolyn Ent and her husband Jeff and their daughters Amber and Aubree.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church in South Amboy on October 12th at 9:30am. Her ashes will be interred following the service at Sacred Heart Cemetery in the Parlin section of Sayreville off of Johnson’s Lane.
