Barbara Malisia Daley (Glosenger), 96 of the Parlin section of Sayreville died peacefully at home Friday, January 24, 2025 surrounded by family.
Born and raised in Carbondale, PA, she was one of thirteen children born to Walter and Laura Glosenger. As a young woman, Barbara moved to Newark, NJ where she lived in a “girls home” with other young women who endeavored to become working professionals. She often talked about her adventures during that time which lead to meeting her husband Michael. Barbara and Michael lived in Parlin for over 50 years. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary shortly before Michael’s passing in 2020. Barbara and Michael were devoted to one another, their family and their neighbors on Haven Terrace.
Prior to Barbara’s retirement, she was employed with Carriage House Manor (formerly Oak Tree Village Nursing Home) for over 40 years. Barbara’s work with the residents in dietary, recreation, and wardrobe, brought her joy. While there, Barbara helped lead the unionization of the staff to ensure fair treatment and wages for her co-workers. She was vocal, active, and passionate about equality and fairness.
Following retirement, Barbara enjoyed trips to Atlantic City with Michael and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was often seen doing her daily walks down Bordentown Ave, sitting on the front swing with a neighbor or keeping busy in her yard. Barbara was full of energy, generosity, and good-will. She will be greatly missed.
Barbara was pre deceased by a son, Donald Daley (1982) and her husband Michael Daley (2020). She is survived by a sister Vivian Baumer of N.C. and her sons: Michael Daley of Waymart, P.A., and Joseph Daley and his wife Robin, also of Parlin. Barbara also leaves behind two grandchildren: Kim McCarthy and her wife Ashley of Tenafly, and Joseph Daley and his wife Megan of St. Augustine, FL, and five great-grandchildren: Nathan, Liam, Quinn, Brendan, and James.
