Argyro Sylvia Pittakas

Argyro “SYLVIA” Pittakas (Nee; Poris) 80, of North Wildwood, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Ikaria, Greece, to the late Evangelos Poris and Thomai Kalogeris, Argyro immigrated to the United States in 1972 and became a longtime resident of North Wildwood. Along with her beloved husband, Nikolaos, she was the proud co-owner and operator of Ikaros, Hellenic, and Pierre’s Restaurants in Wildwood, New Jersey. Argyro also dedicated many years to teaching in the St. Demetrios Greek School program, sharing her love of her heritage and culture with generations of students.

She was the beloved wife of 44 years to Nikolaos Pittakas who preceeded her in passing in 2010.

Slyvia was the devoted mother of Asimina Pittakas and her husband, Panagiotis Skouras, and her favorite child, Apostolos Thomas Pittakas. She was a cherished grandmother to five grandchildren, Julie, Chris, Nicole, Lilly, and Nikos, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Argyro will be remembered for her deep love of family, her devotion to her Greek heritage, and the warmth and generosity she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A visitation will be held at Monday, August 31, 2026 from 10 am to11 am, followed by an 11 am mass at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 321 St. Demetrios Ave, North Wildwood, NJ 08260.  Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery in Cape May, with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Argyro’s memory to the American Heart Association or St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
