Anne M. Halmi, 57 of Sayreville and South Amboy areas entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 3, 2019.

Born in South Amboy, NJ, Anne was a resident of South Amboy and Sayreville for over 45 years before moving to Monroe, Bridgewater and Manalapan. Anne spent countless hours participating in the Sayreville “B.I.C.” Foundation, Easter Seals, Special Olympics and Arc of Somerset County programs. In 2001, she was awarded the “New Jersey Association of Community Providers Community Star Award”. In addition to Anne’s volunteering, she also “worked” at South Amboy Hospital as a candy striper handing out smiles and magazines and later Old Bridge Hospital. She “retired” along with her father and finally had the time to crochet blankets for her nieces, nephews and cousins.

“The #1 Fan of the Jester’s Polka Band”, Anne’s love of polka music was second only to her love for her family. She was her father’s band’s biggest fan, but she loved polka music long after his band stopped playing. From polka weekends in the Catskills and Pennsylvania to Polka Spree by the Sea in Wildwood, Anne spent many weekends clapping, dancing and singing along to her favorite music. If not at a polka festival with her parents, Anne was listening along to Bernie Goydish’s polka DJ radio show or leading her family in a rousing rendition of Sto Lat.

A loving daughter, sister and aunt, Anne is survived by her mother Helen of Sayreville, brother Joe (Mary Ann) Halmi of Sayreville; Marty (Peggy Mulligan) Halmi of South Brunswick; Bob (Karen Ann) Halmi of Freehold; her nieces and nephews Susan (Erik) Reistrom; Cathy (Amy Smith, fiancé) Halmi; Joseph Halmi; Ann Halmi; Martin (Jenn Dye, fiancé) Halmi; Robert Halmi, Andrew Halmi, Christopher Halmi, Thomas Halmi; great niece and nephew Madelyn and Daniel Reistrom along with aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Anne is predeceased by her father Joseph P.
