Alfonso Scotland Sr. was born on February 14, 1932, in Panama City, Panama, to Robert Hewitt Scotland and Adassa Scotland. He graduated from the Artes y Oficios School in Panama. Alfonso was an industrious worker, prior to moving to Brooklyn, NY, he was employed on the Canal Zone.He married his sweetheart, Gene V. George on June 27, 1953; they had known each other since grade school. They had the pleasure of 60 years together before Gene passed away in May of 2015.

Alfonso was a kind and caring person, who was always willing to help others, even strangers without hesitation. This quality of kindness was seen amongst his whole family, passed on from one generation to the next. In addition to being kind, and caring, he had a great sense of humor, which his sister-in-laws, testify to, as he loved to tease them.

As Alfonso grew older, he started to learn moreabout the Bible. When he attended the meetings at the Kingdom Hall, with his wife, and children, he would warmly engage in conversations with those he meet there. Eventually, he had his own personal Bible study and continued attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years, until his death. He loved to listen and sing the Original Songs of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Alfonso Scotland Sr. is survived by his children, Alfonso R. Scotland and his wife, Beverly, his granddaughter Alana Lythus and her husband Jeffrey, his grandsons Brandon Scotland and Donald Haughton, and his great grandsons Preston and Ethan Wilson. And his daughter Dilcia Scotland. He is survived as well by his older brother Henry Scotland, and his younger brother Ronald Scotland, and his brother-in-law, Theodore George, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alfonso is predeceased by his parents Robert Hewitt Scotland and Adassa Scotland, his wife, Gene Veronica Scotland and her mother and father, Irene George and Percival George, and his brothers, Carlos Scotland and his wife Delores and his brother Gumercindo Valdonedo along with his sisters Shirley Scotland Belizaire and Alma Lammie and his sister-in-laws, Beryl Scotland and Clarissa Scotland. We will see him again in Paradise.
