Mr. Adam Bielak, 95 of South Amboy, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, died peacefully on February 15, 2024. It is with great sorrow that the Bielak family announces the passing of their beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother

Adam was born April 14, 1928 in Lwow, Poland, to Zofia and Henryk Bielak. As a teenager during World War II, he trained as a barber in order to have a trade during German and the Soviet occupation. He was heroically Involved with the Polish underground. As a result of this he was sent to the Soviet gulag in Siberia. He spent five years there, and in the early 1950s was released and returned to Poland - one of few survivors of the group that was taken there with him.

In 1955 he married Emilia Szczur on July 16th, the couple had two children Richard, who was born in 1956, and Sophie, who was born in 1960. In 1966 he immigrated to the United States, settling in NYC, followed soon after by the rest of the family, all of whom settled in Brooklyn, New York. Adam went on to become a successful businessman, running multiple hairdressing shops in Brooklyn under the name “Hello Gorgeous”. He retired in 1998 and with his wife enjoyed seaside living in their house in Sea Gate, Brooklyn.

Predeceased his wife Emilia, his brothers Marian and Janusz Bielak.

Adam is survived by his loving children, Richard Bielak, and his wife Jayne and Sophie Rose, and her husband Michael. He was the adored grandfather to Joanna Rose-Goldman, and her husband Michael, Christopher Bielak, and his wife Bridgette, Caroline Bielak and Cassandra Rose, great grandfather to Joey and A.J. Goldman. His dear brother, Father Andrew Bielak. Also survived by many other loving family members. A special mention to his dog Honey.

Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 3pm to 6pm at the Kurzawa Funeral Home 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879. A 10am Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy, NJ. Adam will be laid to rest beside his wife at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery Doylestown, PA. after the mass on Tuesday.
