Kenneth M. “Whooper” Walczak, 59, Lifelong resident of South Amboy has entered into eternal rest on September 17, 2018. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Marie Josephine, his naughty lab “Chooch”, dear sister Karen Walczak-Housman, her companion Raymond Eskra, and favorite brother Tim Walczak, his wife Karen. Also missing him are nieces Stefanie Olivieri (Anthony), Lisa Dowling (Raymarr “Bo”), Christine Salmon (Daniel), and nephews Roger Housman Jr, Tim Walczak and his companion Shona, Andrew Walczak and several great nieces and nephews Kenneth is predeceased by his parents, Kenneth C and Ann Cronin Walczak, his sister Cindy Walczak, and his first lab, Que. Ken was a dedicated volunteer firefighter of Sayreville Fire Department and South Amboy Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief and long-time Chief Driver. He also belonged to these associations: Central Jersey Chiefs, Life Member NJSFA, NJ State Volunteer Fire Chiefs, South Amboy Exempts, Tri-County Antique Fire Apparatus and active member of NJ Fire Museum. He was a serious jokester and a skilled mechanic who loved fixing antique fire apparatus and friend’s vehicles and he was never far from his tools or his friends. A sweetheart with a gruff exterior, he loved his family, his extended fire department family, coffee, and his wife, the “Joy” of his life. Friends are invited to pay their respect to the family on Thursday September 20, 2018 at the Kurzawa Funeral Home 338 Main Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879 from 4 PM to 8 PM. An 11 AM funeral mass will be on Friday at Sacred Heart Church South Amboy, NJ. Cremation will be private.
