George T. Kardos

April 17, 1930 - December 23, 2016

George T. Kardos, 86, of South Amboy, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016. Funeral Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kurzawa Funeral Home, 338 Main Street in South Amboy. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. A catholic prayer service will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.kurzawafh.com. Born in South Amboy to the late James and Helen (Wieczorek) Kardos, Mr. Kardos has been a lifetime resident of South Amboy, New Jersey. He proudly served our country with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. He worked many years as a Maintenance Supervisor with ALPHA Associates Manufacturing Co. in Woodbridge prior to his retirement. He was a longtime member of Knights of Columbus Post #426 in South Amboy, VFW of South Amboy as well as the American Legion of South Amboy. He was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans and an avid Bowler and participated in many leagues. Beloved husband of 60 years to Dorothy (Simeone) Kardos; Devoted father to Lisa Ziola and her husband John, Jr. and Gregory Kardos. Cherished grandfather to Matthew and Brittany Kardos, Gregory and John, III, Ziola and 3 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Joseph and Owen.
