George Kampanis

George Kampanis, 97, of Old Bridge entered into rest on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at home. George was born in Serifos, Greece the son of the late Angelos and Zambeta. He was a skilled carpenter who devoted his life to providing for his family, traveling back and forth from Greece to America to work. George was a dedicated family man and devoted greek orthodox. On his return trips back to Greece he would take care of his local church with repairs and always help his fellow community members with anything they needed. His family name is held in high regards with in his hometown, as a person who was hard working and respectful. George loved to garden as well and every year would plant vegetables and fruits for all to enjoy. He was known for being able to take a lemon tree and by cross pollination it into an orange tree. He was blessed with a huge heart and skilled hands. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Survived by his passing is his devoted wife standing by his side of 65 years Zambeta, his loving son Vangelis Kampanis, and his wife Elizabeth who cared for him through his illness, cherished grandchildren George and Natalie who were his joy. Predeceased George are his brothers Anthony, his wife Maria, John, his wife Maria and sister Stamatia Lierou, her husband Haralabos. Viewing will be from 10-11 am before the 11 am mass at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, 20 Hillcrest Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733 on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Burial to follow at Frost Woods Cemetery, East Brunswick.
